SUMMARY:David Mason- Cold Fire
DESCRIPTION:From the volcanic landscapes of the Pacific Rim to the mythic echoes of Greece and India\, join David Mason for his book of poetry Cold Fire!\nCLICK HERE TO RESERVE YOUR SEAT!\nDavid Mason's poetry circles the globe. The urgent and beautiful poems of his new book\, Cold Fire\, have settings in Australia\, India\, Greece\, Turkey and the American West. A title sequence takes up the Aboriginal practice of cool burning for fire mitigation\, and moves to the Ring of Fire\, the volcanoes of Mason's childhood home in the Pacific Northwest--fires of creation and destruction. Cold Fire is a radiant meditation on memory\, nature\, and the enduring sparks of love and creation. Here the dream life of art is pitched against human conflict. Here we have poems of family life\, aging\, and a deep conversation with history and myth. This is a book of light\, love\, and powerful remembrance from the edge of the world. David Mason was born in Bellingham\, Washington\, and has lived in many parts of the world. He served four years as poet laureate of Colorado before moving to Tasmania in 2018. His many books include The Country I Remember (winner of the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award)\, Ludlow: A Verse Novel (winner of the Colorado Book Award)\, and The Sound: New and Selected Poems and Pacific Light. Mason has also written four books of essays and co-edited several textbooks and anthologies. His work can be found in The New Yorker\, The Weekend Australian\, The Australian Book Review\, Poetry\, The Wall Street Journal\, The Times Literary Supplement\, The Hudson Review\, The Nation\, and many other periodicals. His libretti for operas by composers Lori Laitman and Tom Cipullo are all available on CD from Naxos. Mason's website can be found at: https://davidmasonpoet.com.\n*Feel free to call the store for further assistance at 360-671-2626!*
