Description

A free, fun, engaging hour of music and stories for the whole family! We'll read the book, sing the song, share tall tales, and talk a bit about the role of the horse in the era of Desert Rose. A cautious cowgirl in the market for a new horse believes she has found just the ticket in Desert Rose, a well-trained horse handed down from a rodeo pick-up rider. After a careful inspection of the horse’s conformation and attitude, she buys Desert Rose, congratulating herself on this lucky find, and prepares to ride her home. It will be a ride she and half the town will never forget!

Author Kate Schuman, a native of Washington State, is an award-winning singer and song writer. When her Arizona pal Andy Hurlbut offered the title Desert Rose as a songwriting challenge, Kate drew from her experience as a once-upon-a-time owner of a lively horse, and a song was born. A QR code in the book links to a recorded-live version of the song Desert Rose.

Wendy Dyer, illustrator, grew up on a houseboat on beautiful San Juan Island. A self-taught artist, Wendy creates stunning lifelike portraits using photorealism. She now lives in Weaverville, North Carolina, with her husband, their two curious and creative sons, and one very cuddly Cavapoo.
