Washington State, from east to west, can boast some of the most diverse and breathtaking scenery in the country. Twenty-five carefully selected drives offer a sampling of this variety. Choose from challenging mountain drives with glorious vistas, a peaceful pastoral excursion through the state's southeastern farm country, and a loop through the rain forest of Olympic National Park. Aptly named Mosquito Lake Road, on the way to Mt. Baker, is a special curiosity.

Steve Giordano is the author of Scenic Driving Washington, 1st edition; Camping Washington, 1st and 2nd editions, and 3rd and 4th editions with co-author Lynn Rosen, (Falcon Guides); Now Hiring: Ski Resort Jobs; and the 1st and 2nd editions of The Seattle Dog Lover’s Companion. He and his wife and co-author, Lynn Rosen, have for decades have contributed to and edited guidebooks and websites Ski/Snowboard America and Ski Europe. A current member, Steve has and served as second vice-president of the North American Snowsports Journalists Association and president of the Society of American Travel Writers. He and Rosen have written substantial content for two CD-ROMs: Mount Everest, Quest for the Summit of Dreams, for Peak Media; and Leonardo, for Corbis Corporation.

Both Steve and Emmy award-winner Lynn have previous careers in television production and news and documentary broadcasting. Together with four Pacific Northwest colleagues, they co-own, contribute to, edit, produce and manage the editorial and technical headaches and joys of https://www.highonadventure.com, a website in its unprecedented 30th year that features hard and soft adventures. Lynn is a member of the American Theater Critics/Journalists Association, and both are members of the Society of American Travel Writers. For fifty-five years they have lived in Bellingham, Washington, where they bicycle daily, no matter what, because bicycling > almost anything.
